Rural areas have less hosts so also send requests in bigger cities like Tokyo. Requesting Kyoto? Add nearby Osaka to increase chances of meeting great hosts.
Want to improve your chances of matching with a host? Guests who add 3 or more available dates are much more likely to match with a host. Friday evenings and weekends work best. This is especially important during Japanese holiday periods.
Many urban homes in Japan have limited space, which makes it difficult to host large groups. Try splitting into smaller groups, though not all may be matched. Send requests to Tokyo or Osaka, where most hosts are, and consider homes outside city centers, where there's more space.
